L'Cie
A l'Cie is someone who has been given extraordinary powers by another deity. They appear only in the Fabula Nova Chrysallis subseries.
Appearances[edit]
Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy[edit]
In the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy, there are two different types of l'Cie. Pulse l'Cie, who are branded by Gran Pulse fal'Cie, and Sanctum l'cie, branded by Sanctum fal'Cie.
Both types of l'Cie are given a Focus, which if not completed in time will turn that person into a Cie'th. Should the l'Cie complete their Focus, they will go into a crystal stasis, only awakening when the fal'Cie gives them another task.
Eventually, a Cie'th may pass on, leaving behind a Cie'th Stone which asks others to carry out the Focus they failed to do. In Final Fantasy XIII, the player can complete these missions to acquire unique equipment, trigger events and activate teleport waypoints around Gran Pulse.
From a gameplay perspective, l'Cie gain Roles and an additional ATB segment. They can also cast spells and use special abilities, and can enhance their stats via the Crystarium.
Final Fantasy Type-0[edit]
In the world of Orience, l'Cie are virtually demigods, with almighty strength and inconceivable amounts of power. L'Cie are chosen by each of the Crystal-States' Crystal, with one Primus l'Cie and one Secondus l'Cie. People who become l'Cie lose their free will, and are forced to follow the will of the Crystal until they complete their Focus and enter crystal stasis.
A Primus is usually combat-oriented, focusing on fighting for their State, and a Secondus usually has a support talent, such as summoning or manipulating machines.
In the Bad Ending of Type-0, Class Zero can choose to become l'Cie to defend Rubrum, doing so increases their power exponentially, but they are doomed to fail. Completing every mission on Agito difficulty will unlock l'Cie mode for everyone to use.
